Summary of Position:
General Superintendent oversees all phases of project from initial planning to completion. Demonstrates proficiency and understanding of the management of site logistics and contract operations. Will communicate with Operations Manager and management staff of significant goals to achieve regarding safety, quality control, production, and field supervision.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Safety: Ensure the company goal of zero accidents and incidents is enforced. Meet periodically with Safety Director, participate in Job Hazard Analysis, develop (with Safety Director) any means or methods of further mitigating the probability of accidents. Also, hold regular supervisor safety meetings and visit jobsites on a regular basis to monitor safety procedures.
- Quality Control: Ensure the policies and procedures of the company quality assurance manual are implemented and enforced through oversight of the Quality Assurance Personnel and their responsibilities. Attend pre-job meetings, maintain a general knowledge of the project scope, and hold company supervision accountable for adherence to the particular project specifications and company policies.
- Field Production: Review supervision, manpower and equipment requirements necessary to facilitate satisfactory performance. Make periodic jobsite visits to determine whether the most effective/efficient methods are being utilized. Monitor job cost reports and adjust as deemed necessary.
- Field Supervision: Monitor company’s supervision regarding safety (incident rates and safety infractions reported) and production (analyzing units of production being reported).
Required Skills & Experience:
In addition to overseeing the above, establishes new procedures regarding any of the aforementioned functions of the company.
- Shows knowledge of written procedures affecting field operations, fabrication, safety, quality control and able to implement such written procedures.
- General oversight of all field operational aspects of company including, safety, QA/QX, and field management staff. Provides guidance and coordinates among managers giving priority to customer needs and schedules to supply a quality product.
- Direct oversight of field personnel and operations.
- Direct oversight and review of Job Progress Schedules each month.
- Provide detailed project analysis at 25, 50 and 75% milestones.
- Ensure all pre-con requirements are met.
- Contact General Contractor PM or Superintendent if needed.
- Attend field manager meeting (field, fab)
- Attend Teams weekly meeting.
- Review field schedules

- Review field equipment estimate vs. actual.
- Coordination with subordinate operational personnel.
